Country of Origin: Japan Shigaraki ware is pottery made in Shigaraki Town, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture. Counted one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns, it is said to have a long history spanning over 1,200 years. The name "hechimon" comes from a Shigaraki artisan's term meaning "unusual objects." These vessels, each with their own unique expressions, reflect the diverse shapes created by nature and the individual personalities of each of us. These pieces are imbued with the care and playfulness of master craftsmen who value "inhomogeneity." This dramatic design combines gold glaze and cinnabar glaze.
