Description

A collection of works released on the occasion of Chika Saka's solo exhibition ``Eating an Elephant, One Bite a Day'' held at Parco Factory in 2009. Saka repeatedly draws cute, seemingly simple motifs such as elephants wearing pants, butterflies, birds, and girls. The slightly frightening creatures blend into the multi-colored organic screen, increase their number of friends as if by cell division, assimilate with plants, and change their appearance at will. It is a hymn to life, filled with a sense of awe as we face the life and death of living things. This book traces the evolution of Saka's world of work. Also includes a review by art critic Midori Matsui.
