Kyoyaki (Kiyomizu ware) is one of Kyoto's most representative traditional crafts. Its name is said to derive from the many kilns, including those of Kiyomizu Rokubei and Takahashi Michihachi, located around Gojozaka, the approach to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. These rice bowls, crafted with a crystalline glaze, display a variety of expressions. Their vibrant yet subdued colors are striking.
