Bodhisattva Kannon (Avalokitesvara)
It is in charge of the Tathagata's virtue of great compassion, and as the form of Amida Tathagata's training, it observes all laws and has the ability to freely remove suffering and give happiness, so it is called Avalokitesvara.
He is also called Kannon because he can instantly observe sound and enable all to attain liberation.
That is to say, as the principal image representing the virtue of the Tathagata's great compassion, he is called Amitabha Buddha because his virtue is immeasurable.
Since this bodhisattva has the original vow of saving the world with great compassion, he is worshipped along with the Six Kannon (Thousand-Armed, Eleven-Headed, Nyoirin, Juntei, and Bato) and the Thirty-Three Kannon (described in the Fumon-bon chapter of the Lotus Sutra). He is also worshipped as a guardian of Amida Tathagata along with Bodhisattva Seishi.
Puji Temple in the Zhoushan Archipelago, Zhejiang Province, China is famous as a Kannon sanctuary.
